Rejoice and Participate!!
A dynamic place, the Christine Center is driven by its vision, and sometimes that vision produces outcomes surprising to even the most thoughtful of us. We talk here of stillness. Not a stillness where nothing happens but the fertile quiet of roots reaching deeply beneath our feet. The center also reaches as it responds to the diverse seekers that look for sustenance here. At this time the Center has outgrown itself in certain areas, and other areas need development. And that takes us to the Capital Campaign.
Gatherings — in Madison, Wisconsin; Wheaton, Illinois; and in St Paul — drew together friends and supporters of the Center. Our hearts were warmed by these events. The highlight of the Madison event was when Dr. Luke Fortney eloquently turned to a short passage from his journal that summed up his experience during one weekend at the Christine Center: “I feel alive, connected, peaceful. This is it … this is happiness. There aren’t words for this. It’s perfect just as it is, all that it is …. spontaneous, beautiful, powerful, and intimate. I feel at home … this feels like home. In this simple, sacred place I have found my way home to myself.”
At the Wheaton, Illinois event, what will stay with us always is the memory of Sister Virginia Mary Barta — there in person — sharing the story of her vision that resulted in the founding of the Christine Center. The testimony of Bob Hudetz followed and brought home the impact the Center has had on another of the thousands of people who visit the Center.
A Window for Johanna
We invite donations for a window in the new chapel in Johanna's honor. An anonymous donor has kicked off this opportunity with a matching grant of $2,500. So we are already halfway to designating one of the $5,000 windows in Johanna's honor.
Here's the latest: Johanna is so happy that she now has a window. Now please won't you help to fund a chapel to put the window into? ...
We at the Christine Center are aware of the sacred allure that draws retreatants here to explore their own holistic spirituality. As more people seek to further explore the spiritual realm in a space that balances solitude and community, the Christine Center is experiencing growth in programs and participants, and the current facility is stretched to its capacity.
It is our wish that people of all paths continue to find a spiritual home at the Christine Center for many decades to come, and that they find the facilities adequate for their needs.
The next five years is a time in which a substantial investment must be made to provide quality facilities to the people who seek our services. Thus, the Capital Campaign is an opportunity for you to participate in our vision and to invest in our mission.
We trust that you will help us with this new phase of growth and development by your continued participation in our programs and through your financial support.
