Christine Center Expansion Moves from Phase Two to Phase Three: 2006-2009

A new year, a new time – our nation’s atmosphere seems to be crammed with challenges of change and newness. Not unlike the ambiance of the Christine Center! Day by day life at the Center prompts us to embrace new moments as we courageously move forward with the Capital Campaign.
Your continued kindness and generosity empowers us to continue our expansion projects, even in these difficult economic times. Because of each of you we live and move in calmness as we continue our plans for the future. Thank you!

The energy and dynamism of the Christine Center draws seekers of all spiritual paths to its mission of spiritual deepening for global transformation, and the Center is graced and blessed by them. Our atmosphere of solitude and silence grounds our guests in the fertile quiet of roots reaching deeply. It is our passionate hope that the expansion project will provide all of our guests with more adequate and comfortable facilities. We now share with you the progress that we are making with the phases of the Campaign.

Phase One saw the upgrading and renovation of eleven hermitages and Shekinah (formerly the farmhouse) and the addition of the new modern log cabin, Guadalupe (an overall investment of $100,000).

Phase Two is the construction of the Life Source Center, now called Siloe. It is named after a pool in Jerusalem where Jesus used water to give sight to a man born blind. This is a modest but practical structure for laundry, bathrooms and showers, a meeting room, and a multipurpose room. This eco-friendly building uses solar energy for the hot water and heat and is now completed (an investment of $200,000).

Phase Three We began Phase Three on July 12 when the bulldozers came in to install the pipes for geothermal heating. Today we look out of the window and see the wooden frame of the Chapel Wing. And we know the possibility that exists (with your help) for its completion. The Board of Directors gave approval for the general contractor to build only what we have the finances for. We currently have $300,000 and need $250,000 more to finish the project. This will complete our plans to expand the facilities of the Christine Center so we can better serve you.

The Christine Center staff considers it an honor and privilege to serve our guests. We are inspired by all who come in search of the Divine. The Center experience is created not only by the staff, but also by our guests. There is so much for which we are grateful to you: your loving presence at the Center, your search for spiritual deepening, your shared gifts, and your financial contributions. Together we help create the Christine Center experience.

We invite your prayerful support of the Christine Center and its mission. We pray for our donors daily, and open our hearts to you in gratitude for all you are and do.

Rejoice and Participate!

Continue the Tradition
Thousands of retreatants have visited the Christine Center since we opened our doors in 1980. We invite you in a special way to continue the tradition of S. Virginia Mary Barta, foundress of the Christine Center, as we celebrate her life and birth into eternal life on Friday, March 13, 2009. Virginia created the Christine Center as a natural sanctuary for contemplation, solitude and  spiritual deepening. A memorial, in Virginia’s honor, is being planned at the Center. We welcome your donations toward it.
