Private Retreats
In today's modern world there is sometimes little time to connect with one's own spirit and to explore the inner life of the Self. When a person's deliberate intention is to nurture, explore and renew the Self, a transformative process is engaged that leads to a deeper understanding and greater insights into the working of one's inner life. Just as food is essential to nourish the growth of the body, so respite and meditation are essential nourishment for the soul.
The classical traditional meditative practice involves both sitting and active meditation. Whereas the sitting practice is more introverted and enables access to deep and expansive interior space, the active walking exercise is the grounding which is so necessary for balance. The flow of contemplation into action is accented in Benedictine Catholic, Hasidic Jewish, Zen Buddhist and many of the world's religious traditions. This balanced yin-yang exchange (to use the terms associated with Taoist spirituality) helps build a momentum through which one's spiritual practice can evolve and develop. Daily meditations, spiritual guidance, bodywork, sauna and recreational activities are available to guests of The Christine Center.
Several kinds of retreats are available for those who wish to replenish their spirit. Hermitages (small cabins) in the forest are designed with the retreatant in mind. Times of solitude are ripe with opportunity for reflection, relaxation and honoring one's own rhythms.
Individual Retreats
Private retreats for contemplation, creative pursuits or recreation are available for yourself alone, or to share with a friend, your spouse, or a small group of friends. Situated in your hermitage with bath and kitchenette, you can prepare your own meals or enjoy our delicious community meals. Or choose a guest house room with bath, select comfort mattress and skylight. You can also stay in a simple hermitage, with water in The Center nearby. Hiking, sauna, bodywork, spiritual guidance and daily meditations are available. Rates vary depending upon accommodations chosen. Schedule a Private Retreat whenever you like, but a reservation is required.
